About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Risk Partnerships team is an essential part of the Global Partnerships organization at Stripe. Our team is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key Financial Partners, including banks, to manage risk and compliance for Stripe business activities. These Financial Partners are essential to enable Stripe and its affiliates (including Bridge) to effectively manage the lifecycle of stablecoins (on-ramp, conversion, movement, off-ramp), to develop products and solutions to meet our users' needs. We work across a broad range of risk and compliance topics including credit, fraud, regulatory, financial crime, reputational, product, and operational risks.
What you'll do
We're seeking a team member to collaborate with key Financial Partners throughout North America, Europe, and APAC. These partners will work with Stripe and Bridge to develop and deliver solutions that will build our stablecoin product suite. This role will support Stripe goals to enable users to benefit from products such as on-ramp, conversion, storage, movement, and off-ramp, as well as novel use cases for stablecoins to power transactions, cards, and enable our users to grow their businesses using the latest technology.
Risk management is essential for managing these relationships, and this role requires a broad understanding of risk disciplines across Risk, Fraud, Compliance, and Financial Crime.
This role will lead activities to enhance risk and compliance management interactions between Stripe and its partners, manage key aspects of the partner relationships, and execute high-impact initiatives.
This role will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to set objectives, coordinate priorities, and drive execution. Internally, this role will coordinate closely with product and engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders including Risk, Fraud, Financial Crime and Compliance, Operations, Legal, and Finance. Externally, this role will work closely with partners' Risk and Compliance teams, including senior management.
Responsibilities
- Lead risk-focused initiatives in collaboration with global financial partners (banks, networks, payment methods) to build business opportunities and user verticals, develop shared risk and compliance methodologies, and establish and maintain compliance with agreed risk appetites
- Oversee and maintain the health of relationships with key risk, financial crime, and compliance counterparts at partner Financial Partners
- Develop and manage projects and initiatives that support strong partner relationships regarding risk
- Deliver business and policy recommendations that inform our risk posture
- Act as a representative and negotiator of our risk and compliance approach to banking partners
- Enhance existing and develop partner-facing risk management capabilities
- Lead risk and compliance-related partnership and product discussions with Financial Partners to align on risk approaches and strategies
- Identify and pursue business opportunities by creating risk-aware solutions that expand our product and user base through banking partnerships
- Lead and manage interaction with Financial Partners, advocate on behalf of our users to enable the experience we need for them to be successful
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 8+ years experience in risk, fraud, financial crime, or compliance-related role at a bank, fintech, exchange, wallets, on-ramping and off-ramping, or custodians, with experience working with financial partners and the wider ecosystem
- A deep knowledge of risk and compliance topics for related crypto and stablecoin products
- Ability to represent Stripe on risk, compliance, financial crime, and product with financial partners to maintain positive relationships
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills (written and verbal) to drive understanding, collaboration, and issue resolution
- Curiosity and a partnership mindset focused on improving processes and scaling solutions
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including navigating difficult situations, negotiating timelines, and influencing all levels of stakeholders across organizations and borders
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to thrive in uncertain and ambiguous environments
- Ability to drive clarity, plans, and deliver against timeline and commitments in high-stakes situations, with competing priorities
- Experience with financial crime programs including KYC/B, AML, Sanctions, and Terrorist Financing, with practical knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations
- Strong understanding of the complex risks and compliance requirements for payment orchestration, on-ramps and off-ramps, storage, and money movement relating to stablecoins
- Market experience across North America and EMEA with an understanding of how current and future regulations will impact Stripe and its financial partners, including banks, exchanges, custodians, investment firms, and liquidity partners
- Experience using technology to support the development and embedment of scalable risk and operational processes
