THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Technical Assistant 1 provides nursing support to Internal Medicine residents and attending physicians. This position helps ensure correct aseptic/sterile procedures are followed and performs invasive procedures as defined by nursing statutes.
Responsibilities
  1. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  2. Assists physicians and residents with procedures and patient visits.
  3. Obtains vitals and brief health history.
  4. Assists with sending lab orders.
  5. Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  6. Enters quality data into electronic medical records and assists with coding and billing.
  7. Performs telephone triage according to established protocols.
  8. Schedules referrals to specialist as needed.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office. (Experience as a nurse assistant desired. Knowledge of medical billing preferred. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:Current licensure as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or CCMA in the state of Tennessee required. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to communicate both on telephone and in person.
  • Knowledge of different insurance companies and the ability to maintain constant contact with the patient's primary insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical vocabulary.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.
  • Ability to coordinate care for patients, within and outside providers.
