Rogers Group, Inc., one of the largest privately held aggregate and asphalt construction companies in the U.S., is seeking a skilled Mechanic to support our field operations in the Greer/Upstate area. Technician level and starting pay will be based on experience and skillset. This is a field-based role working on a diverse fleet of heavy construction equipment, on-road trucks, and asphalt plant machinery.

Job Details:

  • Wages based on experience $25+/-
  • Starting wage will be Higher based on verifiable experience for Higher Skill Level Technicians
  • Fulltime/Permanent 
  • Shift may vary 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on on-road trucks and fleet vehicles, ensuring DOT compliance and safe operation 
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain issues with minimal supervision 
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of heavy equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, crushers, and asphalt plant equipment 
  • Complete preventative maintenance to keep equipment running efficiently and reduce downtime 
  • Inspect equipment, identify potential failures, and take proactive steps to prevent breakdowns 
  • Handle field service calls as well as shop-based repairs, depending on operational needs 
  • Perform welding and light fabrication as needed to support repairs 
  • Use parts systems and catalogs to identify, source, and manage components efficiently 
  • Maintain accurate work orders and service records 
  • Operate company vehicles and mobile equipment safely across job sites and public roads 
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures

 Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working on heavy equipment, construction equipment, or on-road diesel trucks 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems 
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload in field and shop environments 
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to DOT and company safety standards 
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks 
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience performing DOT annual inspections 
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software 
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics 
  • Technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment 

Equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.

Work Environment

  • Mix of field, shop, and outdoor work environments 
  • Exposure to noise, dust, weather, and moving equipment 
  • PPE required at all times
