SUMMARY
Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking Geotechnical Engineering Technician in Plano, TX supporting our geotechnical engineering practice. Our ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role will be responsible for the following tasks outlined below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for performing field and laboratory sampling and testing
  • Observing and testing for earthwork and concrete construction
  • Driving to and from project sites and transporting equipment and samples
  • Operating nuclear density gauge and other field equipment
  • Sampling of wet concrete and preparing specimens
  • Preparing field inspection reports on laptop
  • Reading construction drawings and plotting test locations on drawings
  • Photographing site conditions
  • Assisting project management team with geologic research
  • Preparing site plans and other report exhibits
  • Assisting with report and proposal preparation
  • Daily Communication with project managers, contractors and/or client

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ years' experience with field inspection, and material testing for soils and concrete
  • Geology or Engineering degree is a BIG PLUS
  • EIT, GIT, ACI, ICC certifications preferred
  • Driver's License in good standing, properly insured, capable of driving

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, and standing, walking, sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift.
  • Field work includes lifting items up to 40 pounds in weight, pushing wheel barrows, digging with hand tools, etc.
  • Laboratory work, including lifting and moving soil samples and lab equipment, sieving of soils and aggregate, etc. will be needed from time to time
