Insurance Coding and Medical Billing are closely related healthcare roles. Medical Billing focuses on submitting claims, following up on payments, and managing patient accounts. While they often work together, coding is more about classification, and billing is about financial transactions.

What does an insurance coding do?

An insurance coder reviews medical records and assigns appropriate codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services for billing and reimbursement purposes. They ensure accuracy and compliance with coding standards like ICD-10 and CPT, often using specialized software and working closely with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
