RSM Canada is looking for a Tax Manager to join the expanding our Business Tax - Financial Services practice. This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth tax practice while working with complex clients in one or more of the following sectors within our Financial Services practice: Asset Management (including private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds), Financial Institutions, Insurance, Specialty Finance and Brokerage and Trading.

As a Tax Manager for RSM you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around three core concepts (Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development):

  • Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services to clients

  • Serve as a Performance Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback

  • Train and develop staff members

  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm

  • Drive growth and profitability of industry/specialty area by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross selling and new clients for the tax practice

  • Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, etc. - approximately

  • Serving as Tax relationship leader while developing and executing the firm's client service plan

  • Reviewing research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards

  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach

  • Manage client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance

  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law

  • Some travel may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree - preferably in Accounting or related field of study

  • CPA Designation

  • Working towards or completion of Masters of Tax or CPA In-depth Tax Program

  • 5+ years of experience in Public Accounting preferably in a tax focused role

  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Corporations, Partnerships and Trusts

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and technical aspects of tax compliance and accounting

  • Strong technical skills in tax preparation, developing tax focus areas

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Experience in dealing with international tax matters and tax review an asset

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $83,000 - $143,700

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
