JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for marketing to carriers and assisting Risk Advisors in quoting and writing new business. Insurance Placement Specialists work independently and effectively negotiate with our carrier partners to write new business using time management tactics to meet deadlines. This position is responsible for the marketing and placement of new commercial business.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Write new business in a quick, timely, and accurate manner
  • Collaborate with Risk Advisors to determine markets and coverages needed
  • Receive marketing applications for commercial lines accounts
  • Validate and update information within received applications to ensure accurate carrier submissions
  • Analyze and review quotes and coverages from carriers for accuracy
  • Create and distribute marketing proposals to sales staff, and bind coverage as necessary
  • Proactively manage the marketing process and meet deadlines to ensure client and Risk Advisor satisfaction
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion to meet client needs
  • Transition new business accounts to the Account Manager and update internal systems to reflect accounts as sold and input clear directions to the Account Manager for smooth transition
  • Enter activity and other relevant information into the company's software system(s) in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide support and knowledge to sales and service staff throughout the marketing process
  • Understand and promote value-added services available through North Risk Partners (i.e., professional consulting, webinars/seminars, communications, tools, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with carriers and company contacts
  • Attend and actively participate in agency service training meetings
  • Analyze trends and advancements in the insurance industry, as well as changes to the regulatory climate for businesses and the industry overall
  • Follow all federal and state regulations and best practices for avoiding errors and omissions
  • Mentor new marketing team members by guiding them on marketing methods while operating in alignment with company's mission and values
  • Continue professional development by pursuing and maintaining professional designations

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • A combination of education and experience generally attained through a high school degree, bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 5 years in the commercial insurance space
  • Previous insurance marketing and/or insurance customer service experience is required
  • Holds an active property & casualty license
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to identify problems and lead by example
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Perform under normal office conditions; may include lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Twist, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and reach frequently
  • Hear, speak, and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions to communicate with people inside and outside of the organization
  • Sit and a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer
  • Move around office/building/facilities repeatedly throughout the day
  • Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, office equipment uses, review of detailed reports, information, fine print, and warning labels
  • Must possess valid driver's license and be able to travel to different North Risk Partners locations for meetings, as well as various locations throughout the state and potentially the region for client meetings
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime and potential evenings/weekends for events and meetings as needed

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Incumbents must be able to use telephones, calculators, copy machines, computers, printers, and other office equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is primarily indoors. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions during work related travel and events held outside of the workplace will occur and I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree with the contents of this position description. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 - $98,000 annually, plus benefits. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
