An insulator uses special materials to help regulate the temperature of enclosed areas such as commercial and residential buildings. As an insulator, your job duties are to read blueprints, take measurements, cut insulation material down to size, and install insulation using equipment like metal cutters, utility knives, shears, power saws, and staple guns. Your responsibilities include maintaining safety while working with and around potentially hazardous materials. You install insulation under floors, in ceilings, walls, attic spaces, or around ductwork and pipes in a building.
