Job description

Perma-Seal Basement Systems is seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager - Attic Insulation to lead the technical performance, quality, and continuous improvement of our attic insulation division.
This leadership role is responsible for establishing installation standards, improving operational efficiency, developing field personnel, reducing warranty callbacks, and ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The Technical Operations Manager serves as the department's subject matter expert and partners closely with Operations, Sales, Production, and Leadership to drive exceptional customer experiences and operational excellence.
Candidates must have extensive hands-on attic insulation installation experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
  • Own the technical performance of the attic insulation division.
  • Establish and maintain installation standards, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert for attic insulation, ventilation, air sealing, and building science.
  • Evaluate new products, equipment, and installation methods to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Operational Leadership
  • Develop strategies to improve productivity, installation quality, safety, and profitability.
  • Monitor department KPIs, quality metrics, warranty claims, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify trends and implement corrective action plans to reduce callbacks and installation defects.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to improve workflow, scheduling, and production efficiency.
  • Training & Team Development
  • Design and oversee technical training programs for installers and crew leaders.
  • Certify new installers before they independently perform installations.
  • Mentor field leaders and provide ongoing coaching to improve technical skills and workmanship.
  • Evaluate field performance and recommend development plans.
  • Quality Assurance
  • Lead field quality inspections and technical audits.
  • Resolve complex installation challenges and customer escalations.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, OSHA regulations, building codes, and company standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales to review technically challenging projects before installation.
  • Support Production with scheduling, job planning, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Customer Care to resolve warranty issues and improve the homeowner experience.
  • Assist with interviewing and evaluating experienced installer candidates.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on attic insulation installation experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience in attic insulation, weatherization, or residential construction operations.
  • Expert knowledge of blown-in insulation, batt insulation, air sealing, ventilation systems, insulation removal, and residential building science.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, improving operational performance, and implementing quality initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret production metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
