We are looking for:
Syensqo is seeking an entry-level Research Chemist to join the Analytical Research & Innovation team within the Performance & Care Global Business Unit at our Stamford, CT research center.
The Analytical Department serves a critical role across the organization by generating the scientific data and insights needed to support product innovation, solve customer challenges, troubleshoot manufacturing and product performance issues, and enable informed business decisions. As a member of this team, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, technical service specialists, and manufacturing partners to help solve complex technical problems.
The primary focus of this position is thermal analysis and material characterization. You will perform thermal characterization studies, develop analytical methods, interpret data, and communicate results that support research, product development, and customer-facing investigations.
This role is ideal for an early-career chemist seeking to build a strong foundation in analytical chemistry and materials characterization. While the primary focus is thermal analysis, you will also have opportunities to gain exposure to a broad range of analytical techniques across the department, including titration, physical chemistry measurements, and other material characterization methods. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will develop versatile analytical skills while supporting research, product development, and customer-focused problem solving.

  • Perform thermal characterization studies using techniques such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), High-Temperature DSC (HT-DSC), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA).
  • Generate and interpret analytical data to support research, product development, manufacturing support, and customer-focused investigations.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for new materials and applications.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technical teams to solve complex technical challenges and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Support material characterization, performance evaluation, and failure analysis projects.
  • Document experimental work in electronic laboratory notebooks and communicate results through technical reports and presentations.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instrumentation to ensure reliable and high-quality results.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the laboratory while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Continuously expand technical capabilities through exposure to a broad range of analytical techniques and collaborative projects.

  • Experience working with polymers, plastics, specialty chemicals, coatings, personal care ingredients, or related materials.
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques beyond thermal analysis.
  • Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Experience interpreting analytical data and preparing technical reports or presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot laboratory experiments and instrumentation.

  • The U.S. annual base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: $71,760 to $89,700. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, such as skills, experience, qualifications, etc. and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range.
