Job description

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will possess the ability to work semi-independently in a small multi-disciplinary team utilizing their experience to analyze and design electronics and electrical systems. Additionally, developing embedded devices and modules to power, generate, and receive signals for prototypes and field-deployable systems is a critical component of this job. The ability to read, comprehend and generate professional quality design documentation is a required capability for this position.
Job Purpose
This position will support the design, development, testing and operational phases of projects
undertaken at PERATON Labs, the research and development arm of PERATON corporation. This position requires the successful candidate to work closely with a diverse team of engineering, scientific and technical staff to develop novel solutions in support of such projects.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Design, develop, and test of experimental and production Instrumentation & Control systems.
  • Providing technical oversight of staff when appropriate.
  • Providing Hands-on work to test electronics, software, diagnose failures and render repairs if needed.
  • Develop and review documentation packages including process control diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and test plans.
  • Developing embedded computing and digital signal processing designs and applications.
  • Providing expertise in analyzing analog and digital circuitry with both known and unknown properties.
  • Preparing design review material such as presentation, simulation, analysis and other key communicable components for both internal and external design reviews.
  • Review design document packages for manufacturability, testability and design validation.

Qualifications
Required Education and Work Experience
The successful candidate has diversified knowledge of principles and practices in engineering.
A degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required with the following experience levels:
  • BS with 8 or more years of experience.
  • MS with 6 or more years of experience.
  • PhD with 3 or more years of experience.

(Experience must be with relevant work in a professional setting)
Required Skills/Attributes
  • Experience with National Instruments equipment (cRio, cDAQ, PXI)
  • Experience implementing and updating design with National Instruments Labview
  • Working with Analog and Digital IO data acquisition and control signals as well as signal conditioning techniques.
  • Experience with implementing designs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experienced in generating and reading State Machine, Logic, Flow, and Interconnection Diagrams.
  • Experience with reading and editing schematics, ICDs and process control diagrams.
  • Skilled in electrical circuit testing and analysis including prototyping sub-systems.
  • Familiarity with lab/bench hardware such as oscilloscopes, power supplies (AC and DC), and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to communicate designs through presentations and be comfortable providing material for review.
  • Experience with designing and troubleshooting cabling and interconnectivity.
  • Proficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to be onsite five days a week when required.

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
