Senior Controls Engineer (Embedded Systems & Control Algorithms)
Location: Burlington, MA (Onsite/Hybrid)
Salary: $76,400–$150,000/year
Position Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to design and develop embedded control systems for advanced electromechanical products. This role focuses on creating control algorithms, implementing embedded software, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative products.
- The ideal candidate has strong experience in embedded software development, control systems, algorithm design, and thermal/fluid system controls, along with a hands-on approach to testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize embedded control algorithms for electromechanical systems.
- Implement and maintain embedded software for product control and performance optimization.
- Develop control strategies for thermal, fluid, and sensor-based systems.
- Build and maintain development, testing, and diagnostic tools for embedded platforms.
- Perform system modeling, tuning, validation, and design optimization.
- Conduct root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for field and production issues.
- Develop technical specifications, design documentation, and software standards.
- Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and product engineering teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Support continuous improvement, value engineering, and next-generation product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience developing embedded software and control algorithms.
- Proficiency with C, C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with embedded debugging tools, source control, and software development lifecycle practices.
- Knowledge of control system theory, including feedback, feed-forward, and model-based controls.
- Experience working with thermal and fluid systems including heaters, pumps, valves, sensors, and flow measurement devices.
- Strong hands-on experience with testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and performance analysis.
- Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), A3, 8D, or Six Sigma.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% as required.

Compensation: $76,400–$150,000/year
