Job description

ITnova is seeking a skilled H-1 Avionics Technician (CDI) to join our aviation maintenance team supporting mission-critical rotary-wing aircraft operations. In this role, you will perform aircraft electrical and avionics maintenance while serving as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), ensuring maintenance activities meet established quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying complex avionics and electrical systems, conducting quality inspections throughout the maintenance process, and providing technical guidance to fellow technicians. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with aircraft avionics systems, a strong understanding of quality assurance principles, and a commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and mission-ready aircraft in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) from the primary discipline of MOS 6324 during the contract period.
  • Performs routine aircraft maintenance functions.
  • Performs quality technical inspection of aircraft, aircraft components, parts, repairs, and systems, including avionics, electrical, instrument, and armament systems, as required by functional assignment.
  • Performs quality and safety inspections of on-site equipment, tools, vehicles, and support equipment used in aircraft maintenance.
  • Performs initial, in-progress, and final quality technical inspections during maintenance, repair, modification, rework, and overhaul of aircraft, aircraft components, and component parts.
  • Provides technical guidance, instructions, and interpretation of written instructions and procedures to technicians as required to assure acceptable quality workmanship and flight line services.
  • Assist in preparation, processing, and response to Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs), as required.
  • Operate aircraft towing equipment in towing operations, as required, and maintains familiarity with related support systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on aircraft and aircraft systems and subsystems.
  • Perform aircraft maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, and modification of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance and technical manuals, publications, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Possesses thorough working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention, and treatment.
  • Performs troubleshooting and rewiring of complex avionics and electrical system discrepancies and modifications.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • When assigned to the flight line, provides customer support during launch and recovery and aircraft security, as required.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, modification, corrosion control, and preservation of aircraft and aircraft subsystems.
  • Perform functional checks, inspections, and troubleshooting, as required and trained.
  • May be required to perform Maintenance Operational Checks (MOCs).
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA and required forms, as required by job assignment.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years rotary-wing aviation experience.
  • Minimum of1 year prior experience as a Collateral Duty Inspector on USMC UH-1 or AH-1 aircraft or similar aircraft.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, able to pass a background check and obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must meet any Government and company licensing or qualification requirements for the position.
  • Demonstrate operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines, and component parts.
  • Must be familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of electrical and avionics systems.
  • Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and use measuring instruments, gauges, tools, and test equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and write, interpret, and comply maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, directives, guides, and forms used on the job.
  • Must show proficiency in the use of OOMA after assignment.
  • Must have and maintain a Secret clearance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
  • Able to pass a fit-for-work physical and/or drug test as required.
  • Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working overhead.
  • Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flight line, as required.
  • Able to man and perform flight line extinguisher duties, as required.
  • If required, must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate powered industrial trucks.
  • If required, must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 to 4 hours.
  • If required, must be able to perform confined space activities.
  • Travel may be required.
