Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a driven and customer-focused Customer Service & Estimator Representative to support both frontline customer engagement and commercial project estimating. This hybrid role plays a key part in delivering exceptional customer experiences while driving residential & commercial sales growth through accurate estimating, relationship building, and project coordination.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment-able to balance customer service responsibilities with technical estimating duties. Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales Support

  • Deliver outstanding service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.

  • Support walk-in customers with counter sales and product guidance.

  • Process orders, transactions, and customer data in ERP/CRM systems.

  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain strong relationships.

  • Collaborate with sales, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment.

  • Identify sales opportunities and contribute to revenue growth.

Estimating & Project Management

  • Prepare estimates by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project documents.

  • Perform lumber, siding, and roofing take-offs and calculate material requirements. Using our software (PlanSwift).

  • Develop and submit accurate project quotes and proposals.

  • Track and follow up on bids, documenting outcomes and identifying improvement opportunities.

  • Build relationships with general contractors, end users, and institutional clients.

  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions impacting project scope.

  • Prepare submittals for approval by architects and project owners.

  • Order, track, and manage materials for awarded projects.

  • Work closely with vendors to secure competitive pricing.

Business Development & Collaboration

  • Grow residential & commercial sales within the company's footprint.

  • Partner with internal sales teams to close project opportunities.

  • Share market insights and identify opportunities for product line growth.

  • Maintain strong relationships across departments and with external stakeholders.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Branch Manager

  • Works cross-functionally with sales, warehouse, drivers, and vendor partners

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of customer service, sales support, or estimating experience

  • Experience reading project plans, blueprints, or construction specifications (preferred for estimating portion)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with CRM and/or ERP systems

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills

  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building materials distribution or construction industry

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime based on business needs. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance-based bonus programs, commissions, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
