BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN, is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced Emergency, ICU, and Triage departments. Full-time: Days, swings and overnights. Weekend and holiday requirements.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:
  • Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Understand the classification of commonly used medications associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic response
  • Vitals: accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort
  • Work with state-of-the-art software such as Cornerstone and Instinct
  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines
  • Work with the DVM and LVTs to assist in exams and patient treatments.
  • Feed, bathe, and provide enrichment to patients
  • Help maintain a clean and well-organized hospital
  • Assist with exams, diagnostics, and procedures
  • Assist with advanced procedures such as endoscopy, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis
  • Help monitor and care for patients after procedures

Work Towards (Based on previous experience)
  • Advanced skills such as performing phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, NG tube placement, and more
  • Administering medication via all routes
  • Becoming proficient in hands-free radiology
  • Becoming proficient in laboratory equipment
  • Career leveling, including becoming a credentialed or non-credentialed technician

Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system.
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
For example:
  • Mon - Thurs: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
  • Sat-Sun 7am to 6pm =$3.50 Shift Differential
  • Fri - Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
