Job Description
The Electrical Apprentice assists skilled electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and facilities. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed electrician, this role provides hands-on experience while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality electrical work.
Responsibilities
  • Assists with installing and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment, and systems.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, and installs conduit and assists with wire pulls and terminations.
  • Uses testing equipment to troubleshoot electrical issues and identify potential problems.
  • Tests electrical equipment for safe and efficient operation.
  • Follows applicable electrical codes, project requirements, and company safety procedures.
  • Assists with material handling and maintains organized tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly jobsite and storage area.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Basic writing and reading skills. Basic mathematics skills. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Must use all power tools, saws, drills, threaders, wire taggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches. Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers.
Qualifications
High School Diploma. 0 years of experience. Must complete 2,000 hours of on the job training each year of apprenticeship. Must enroll and attend the apprenticeship school and maintain a minimum passing grade of 70. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
