Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for overseeing field operations related to commercial HVAC and sheet metal installation projects. This position provides leadership to field personnel, coordinates manpower and materials, maintains project schedules, ensures quality workmanship, and promotes a culture of safety while delivering successful projects.


Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate sheet metal field personnel on commercial construction projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee installation of ductwork and HVAC equipment including rooftop units, air handling units, fan coil units, VAV systems, condensing units, and related components.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress and manpower requirements to maintain production schedules.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure installations meet company standards and project specifications.
  • Manage material deliveries, equipment needs, and jobsite logistics.
  • Train, mentor, and develop foremen, mechanics, and apprentices.
  • Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Track labor productivity and provide updates to project management.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of commercial sheet metal/HVAC construction experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or superintendent experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial ductwork installation methods including TDC/TDF, slip and drive, ductmate, spiral duct, snap lock, and flex duct systems.
  • Experience overseeing projects in healthcare, education, industrial, government, and commercial facilities preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment installation.
  • Proficiency with construction scheduling and manpower planning.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to travel as project needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk active construction sites daily.
  • Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and navigate construction environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
