Job description

We are currently seeking a Crane Installation Technician Apprentice to join our team!
This is an entry-level position designed for individuals eager to learn and develop technical skills in crane system installation, steel erection, rigging, welding, and fabrication. This role provides hands-on training, mentorship from experienced technicians, and the opportunity to grow into a full-time Crane Installation Technician.
Pay Range: $27/hr - $36/hr
Installation Technician Apprentice Role & Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior technicians in the layout, installation, and assembly of overhead crane systems and supporting structures.
  • Learn and perform basic steel erection tasks, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment of structural components.
  • Support rigging and lifting operations, safely handling materials and equipment under supervision.
  • Participate in welding and fabrication training, following AWS D1.1 standards and company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Follow all OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and DOT/FMCSA safety regulations, maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing installation issues, making necessary adjustments under guidance.
  • Document and report installation activities, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Travel as required (approximately 9 days per month) to assist with out-of-town crane installations.

Installation Technician Apprentice Qualifications & Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical school or vocational training is a plus).
  • Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn crane installation, welding, fabrication, and rigging techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings (training provided).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 50 feet using lifts and scaffolding.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 75 pounds and working in industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (preferred, but training will be provided).
