What is an installer apprentice?

Installer Apprentices are entry-level workers who assist experienced installers in setting up, repairing, or maintaining systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other specialized equipment. They learn the trade through hands-on training and may attend classes or seminars to supplement their on-the-job experience. Installer Apprentices are responsible for following safety guidelines, preparing tools and materials, and supporting the installation process under supervision. Over time, they gain the skills and experience needed to advance to a fully qualified installer position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an installer apprentice, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Installer Apprentice, you need basic mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety procedures, and sometimes OSHA certifications are commonly required. Strong communication, reliability, and a positive attitude help set individuals apart in this hands-on role. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring safe, accurate installations and effective teamwork while building a successful career in the trade.

What are some common challenges installer apprentices face when starting out, and how can they be overcome?

Installer Apprentices often encounter challenges such as learning to use specialized tools, understanding technical instructions, and adapting to varying work sites and conditions. It can also be demanding to keep up with experienced installers while maintaining safety and quality standards. Job description

Description:

Apprentice Installer – Healthcare Services Pay: $18/hour to start • Daytime hours, 5-day week (Tuesday–Saturday or Thursday–Monday) • Company van provided — no wear on your car, no gas out of pocket

Clear path: Apprentice ? Associate Installer, with pay that grows as you do

Accord Curtains keeps hospitals and medical facilities running by installing, removing, and replacing the privacy curtains in patient rooms and clinical spaces. We're looking for a dependable Apprentice Installer to join our healthcare services team.

If you're the right fit, here's what you'll like about this job:

  • You work independently. After training, you're trusted to run your own jobs out in the field — no one hovering over your shoulder.
  • You stay active without wrecking your body. You're moving all day, but this isn't a warehouse grind.
  • We provide the van. You drive a company vehicle to job sites — no miles on your own car, no gas out of your pocket.
  • The schedule is predictable. Steady daytime hours on a consistent 5-day week — you'll know your days well in advance. (Two shift options: Tuesday–Saturday or Thursday–Monday.)
  • The work matters. You're keeping hospitals clean, safe, and ready for patients.
  • There's a real path forward. You start as an Apprentice Installer and move up to Associate Installer as you prove yourself — and the pay moves with you. We're growing and we promote from within.
  • Real full-time benefits. 15 days PTO, 8 paid holidays, 5% 401(k) match, and a quarterly bonus — the kind of package most jobs at this pay don't offer.

What you'll do day to day:

  • Install, remove, and replace privacy curtains in patient rooms, surgical areas, and clinical spaces
  • Safely use ladders to access curtain tracks
  • Follow hospital cleanliness and infection-prevention protocols
  • Load, unload, and transport curtains and equipment to and from job sites
  • Keep accurate records of work completed at each facility
  • Communicate professionally with hospital staff and your team
  • Help with inventory and job prep when needed

Pay & growth: Start at $18/hour as an Apprentice Installer. Structured raises to $19 at 90 days and $20 at 6 months for installers who show up and deliver, with promotion to Associate Installer as you master the work. Company van provided for all job travel.

Full-time benefits:

  • 15 days paid time off (PTO)
  • 8 paid holidays
  • 5% 401(k) matching
  • Quarterly bonus
Requirements:

What we're looking for:

  • Reliability above all. You show up on time, every time, and do what you say you'll do.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean enough driving record to operate a company van
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk all day, and work comfortably on ladders
  • Willing and able to pass a background check for hospital access
  • Professional and respectful in a healthcare setting
  • Interested in growing from Apprentice into a full Associate Installer over time

No curtain experience needed — it's a simple job to learn once you're here. What we can't teach is showing up. If that's you, apply.
