Job description

We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Cabling Technician to join our growing team specializing in structured cabling, network infrastructure, and low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling in commercial and industrial environments.

This role involves working on dynamic job sites across the country and supporting projects that include structured cabling systems, wireless access points, and network infrastructure installations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cabling Technician, you will be responsible for:

Structured Cabling Installation

  • Install, route, label, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling systems
  • Pull low-voltage cable through walls, ceilings, conduits, and cable trays
  • Install racks, patch panels, cable management systems, J-hooks, and support structures
  • Perform neat and organized cable dressing in IDFs, MDFs, and telecom rooms

Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Test and certify copper and fiber cabling using industry-standard tools
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues in structured cabling and network systems
  • Identify and resolve signal issues, continuity problems, and installation defects

Network & Device Support

  • Assist with installation of Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and network switches
  • Support IP camera system installations and low-voltage security systems
  • Work with IT/network teams to ensure proper system integration and activation

Project Execution & Site Work

  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams
  • Follow project scope, installation guidelines, and safety standards
  • Work in commercial, industrial, and retail environments
  • Travel to job sites nationwide for extended project durations

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA safety guidelines and company safety protocols at all times
  • Operate lifts (scissor/boom lifts) and work at elevated heights when required
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
  • Use proper PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage installation preferred
  • Experience with copper and/or fiber optic cabling systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Familiarity with telecom rooms (IDF/MDF environments)
  • Basic understanding of networking infrastructure (switches, WAPs, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively (nationwide)
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred Certifications (Not Required but a Plus)

Candidates with any of the following certifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • BICSI Installer 1 or 2
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Panduit Certification
  • CommScope/Systimax Certification
  • Corning Fiber Certification
  • Manufacturer-specific low-voltage training programs

Skills & Competencies
