Responsibilities: 

  • Aid the Electrical Foreman on the completion of industrial electrical projects 
  • Bend conduit, pull wire, and utilize standard electrical testing equipment 
  • Take continuous direction from Electrical Foreman 
  • Support other apprentices, journeyman, and foremen on various projects.  
  • Follow instructions from foremen and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.  
  • Keep the job site clean and well-organized.  
  • Handle the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.  
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards   
  • Fuel and wash department vehicles   
  • Gain essential carpentry skills to progress within the electrical department.  

Requirements: 

  • 3-4 years of previous electrical (Residential/Commercial/Industrial experience)  
  • State of Michigan Registered Electrical Apprentice License   
  • Participate in our employer sponsored DOL electrical apprenticeship through SEMCA.   
  • Troubleshoot Lighting Control Systems 
  • Able to install Switchboards 
  • Knowledge of Testing Equipment 
  • Conduit sizing and conduit fill 
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting switchboards and switchgears to ensure efficient power distribution and system reliability. 
  • Install and maintain busway systems, ensuring flexible and reliable power distribution for industrial and commercial applications. 
  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications 
  • Blueprint reading 
  • Arc flash training  
  • Must be mechanically inclined 
  • Ability to take direction 
  • Valid driver's license 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Job layout 
  • Pipe bending skills  

Equipment & tool experience: 

  • Aerial -lift Operation - Boom & Scissor Lift 
  • Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000# 
  • Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical 
  • Trailer Loading and Securing of Material 
  • Telehandler 
  • Meter usage 
  • Meggers 

Rigging Requirements: 

  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials.   
  • Use & recognize limitations of chains, synthetic, metal mesh and wire rope slings    
  • Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines    
  • Identifies common load configurations & positioning   
  • Calculate load weights   
  • Rigger 2 training – trains on above   

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.  
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.  
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally  
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards  
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.  
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.  
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
