Job description

HVAC Install Manager

Position Type: Full-time salaried role that is eligible for performance bonus

Compensation: $115,000 - $150,000 Annual Salary + potential for up to 20% discretionary annual bonus

Job Summary:

We are seeking a HVAC Install Manager to lead and execute residential HVAC operations in Connecticut. This individual will serve as the HVAC license holder of record (S1 or D1) and be responsible for ensuring all HVAC work is performed in compliance with state and local regulations.

This role combines hands-on project management with technical leadership and compliance oversight. The ideal candidate will oversee project execution, manage subcontractors, and support the growth of the HVAC department. This individual will also play a key role in overseeing in-house HVAC installation teams across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts, ensuring high-quality workmanship, operational efficiency, and consistency in execution. Additionally, they will help establish and enforce best practices for HVAC installations across the region.

Essential Functions:

License Holder & Compliance

  • Serve as the HVAC license holder of record for Connecticut operations
  • Ensure all work meets state codes, permitting requirements, and inspection standards
  • Act as point of contact for inspectors and municipalities
  • Own installation quality, reducing callbacks, failures, and rework

Project & Install Execution

  • Manage HVAC projects from pre-install QC through completion
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate installs to meet production targets
  • Monitor job progress, resolve issues, and ensure on-time delivery
  • Maintain visibility into pipeline, backlog, and install capacity

Field & Subcontractor Management

  • Oversee in-house install teams across CT and Western MA
  • Recruit, manage, and hold subcontractors accountable to standards
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, and support crews
  • Conduct site visits and quality audits as needed

Scoping, Readiness & Process Improvement

  • Review and QC scoped jobs to ensure they are install-ready
  • Validate system design, materials, and job feasibility
  • Identify issues early to avoid delays and cost overruns
  • Help build and improve processes, SOPs, and install standards
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Education & Experience:

  • Required: S1 or D1 HVAC Contractor License (Connecticut)
  • Must be eligible to serve as license holder of record
  • 7+ years HVAC experience (install, service, or project management)
  • Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems (heat pumps, ductless, etc.)
  • Experience managing install teams and/or subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of codes, permitting, and inspections
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • This is a supervisory role that may include overseeing and managing a team or department.

Work Environment:

  • Office Environment: This position is primarily based in an open office environment with typical office conditions; however, may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
  • Warehouse Environment: This position is based in a warehouse, which serves as a base for many of our operations and includes equipment and material storage areas.
  • Customer settings: This position is based in customer settings and will require work in and out of doors, including in attics, basements, small-confined spaces, and rooftops.
  • Hybrid position: This position is a flexible work model that combines remote and on-site work. When working remotely, the employee is required to have a workspace free of distraction during work hours to perform job duties.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, performing tasks on a computer, the ability to move within the office to attend meetings, access equipment, or interact with colleagues.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces. The employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds, and must be able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.
  • This job may require travel in a personal or company-provided vehicle.
