Summary

We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate I to work in the Center for Antibody & Protein Engineering (CAPE) at Moffitt Cancer Center. The CAPE is a newly formed initiative focused on the development of next-generation cancer immunotherapies.

Position Highlights:

  • The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research projects involving molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and yeast surface display, while also supporting day-to-day laboratory management and ordering activities.
  • Depending on interest and qualification, this position offers opportunities to further develop scientific skills such as the independent pursuit of research projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Cloning recombinant DNA constructs including plasmid design, DNA preparation, transformation, and sequence verification
  • Maintaining cell cultures,
  • Conduct yeast surface display experiment, including library handling, expression analysis, and selection assays.
  • Express and purifying proteins in bacterial, insect and mammalian expression systems using standard biochemical techniques (e.g., affinity chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography).
  • The candidate will also be responsible for lab management duties such as equipment maintenance, generation of common reagents, and purchase orders.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or in a related field is required and prior research training experience.
  • Research training experience in molecular biology or biochemistry is required, and familiarity in the areas of structural biology, cancer biology or immunology is preferred.
  • The successful applicant should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and good written and verbal communication skills are essential for the candidate to collaborate with others within the research group and outside.
