Job description

Senior Manager, Operating Unit Engineering Beverage

The Senior Manager, Operating Unit Engineering Beverage is responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering support across multiple gable-top carton manufacturing facilities. This role drives safety, quality, operational performance, equipment reliability, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operating unit. The position serves as the technical authority for Lithographic Offset Printing, Flexographic Printing, HD Flexographic Printing, rotary and flatbed score-and-cut tooling, and water-based, UV, and Electron Beam (EB) ink technologies.

Lead engineering activities across beverage carton manufacturing operations; drive safety, quality, throughput, yield, uptime, and scrap reduction initiatives; provide technical leadership to plant engineering and operations teams; support capital projects, equipment commissioning, and process optimization efforts.

Provide subject matter expertise in Lithographic Offset Printing, Conventional Flexographic Printing, HD Flexographic Printing, Rotary Die Cutting and Scoring, Flatbed Die Cutting and Scoring Tooling, Gable-Top Carton Converting, Water-Based Ink Systems, UV Ink Systems, EB Ink and Coating Systems, and Color Management Processes.

Optimize print quality, color consistency, registration control, tooling performance, carton dimensional accuracy, coating performance, and manufacturing efficiency. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for process defects and quality issues.

Drive OEE improvement, downtime reduction, yield improvement, scrap reduction, changeover optimization, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Develop scopes of work, equipment specifications, business cases, and implementation plans. Support FAT/SAT activities, commissioning, startup, and commercialization of new products and technologies.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience with at least 5 years supporting carton converting, packaging, printing, or paperboard manufacturing operations. Experience with gable-top beverage packaging preferred.

Up to 75% travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and customer locations as required.

Safety performance, print quality, OEE improvement, scrap reduction, downtime reduction, capital project execution, tooling optimization, and successful implementation of engineering standards across manufacturing sites.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $145,000-$165,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
