Job description

Position Description
CT / Radiologic Technologist Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036
Performs the necessary job duties to provide optimum quality patient radiographs AND CT images with ALARA radiation exposure.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, answering questions, and obtaining medical histories.
• Position patients correctly while operating the CT scanner & diagnostic radiographic equipment.
• Operate other equipment/devices as appropriate - i.e....power injector for CT contrast administration.
• Ensure proper operation of CT scanner.
• Calculate exposure factors for optimum radiographic quality with lowest absorption dose.
• Practice radiation protection for patients, family members, other staff & self.
• Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and demonstration of desired anatomy.
• Documentation of patient information & sending exams to PACS.
• Administration of contrast media as needed.
• Initiate life support measures to patients when necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds correctly.
• Maintain patient records.
• Assumes responsibility for assigned area
• Able to work alone.
• Promotes a climate conductive to learning for co-workers.
• Rotates work schedules within the department and/or cover other shifts as required.
• Assists and/or transport patients using a wheelchair or stretcher as conditions warrant.
Job Requirements:
• Education - High School Diploma; Minimum 2-year degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or College.
A.R.R.T. Registered in Radiography AND Computed Tomography (CT) or CT registry eligible.
• Training/Experience - Minimum 1-year prior experience in a hospital setting for Radiography. Some experience with CT scan is desired, but not necessary; will cross-train the right candidate.
