Injection Rn information

What is an injection RN?

Injection RNs, or Injection Registered Nurses, are licensed nurses who specialize in administering injectable medications or treatments, such as vaccines, Botox, dermal fillers, or other therapeutic injections. They work in various settings, including medical spas, dermatology clinics, and hospitals. Their responsibilities include assessing patients, preparing and administering injections, monitoring for adverse reactions, and providing patient education about aftercare. Injection RNs must follow strict safety protocols and maintain up-to-date knowledge on injection techniques and related regulations.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an injection RN?

An Injection RN is primarily responsible for preparing and administering injections, vaccines, and injectable medications according to physician orders. In addition to ensuring proper technique and maintaining sterile procedures, the role involves monitoring patients for adverse reactions, documenting all administered medications, and providing patient education regarding aftercare. Injection RNs often collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, and other nursing staff to ensure patient safety and effective communication. The work can be fast-paced, especially during busy clinic hours or vaccination drives, requiring strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an injection RN?

To thrive as an Injection RN, you need a solid background in nursing practice, experience with medication administration, and an active RN license. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), injection techniques, and knowledge of injection-specific medications or devices (like Botox or vaccines) are typically required. Strong attention to detail, excellent patient communication, and the ability to reassure or educate clients are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure safe, accurate care and build trust with patients, which is critical for positive outcomes in injection-based treatments.

We are seeking an experienced, patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our integrative medicine team 3-4 days per week. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys hands-on patient care while also taking ownership of the clinical experience and day-to-day operations of our IV suite. The RN will administer IV therapies and injections, perform blood draws, educate and support patients, and collaborate closely with our providers. Beyond direct patient care, this role will help manage clinical inventory, maintain an organized and efficient treatment environment, and contribute to a warm, elevated patient experience. Thursday and Friday availability from 7:45 AM-5:00 PM is required, with 1-2 additional days based on clinic needs.
About Minneapolis Integrative Medicine Center
At Minneapolis Integrative Medicine Center we take a different approach to patient care, integrating wellness, nutrition and prevention into everyday clinical practice. We use in-depth testing including microbiome, genomics, and hormone testing routinely, and we prioritize longer appointment times with patients so you are able to spend meaningful time with your patients becoming their partner in health.
Description
Part-Time | 3-4 Days per Week
Thursday & Friday Required | 7:45 AM-5:00 PM
About Minneapolis Integrative Medicine Center
At Minneapolis Integrative Medicine Center (MIMC), we believe healthcare should be personalized, proactive, and centered around the whole person.
Our team combines integrative medicine, advanced diagnostic testing, and individualized treatment plans to help patients better understand their health and take meaningful steps forward.
We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment and wants to be part of a growing integrative medicine practice.
This role is ideal for someone who loves direct patient care but also enjoys taking ownership behind the scenes-keeping the IV suite and clinical operations organized, anticipating needs, managing inventory, and helping create an exceptional experience from the moment a patient arrives.
The Opportunity
Our RN team plays an essential role in the patient experience at MIMC.
You will primarily support our IV and injection services and laboratory services, while collaborating closely with our providers and administrative team to ensure patients receive safe, efficient, and personalized care.
This is not a traditional hospital nursing role. Our nurses build relationships with patients, educate and reassure them, are highly skilled in IV therapy and integrative treatments, and help maintain the systems that keep our clinical operations running smoothly.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable being hands-on, adaptable, detail-oriented, and proactive.
What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities

  • Administer IV therapy, IM injections, and other treatments according to provider orders and established clinical protocols.
  • Provide IV therapy and phlebotomy services for both adult and pediatric patients, following appropriate training, policies, and safety protocols.
  • Perform venipuncture and collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens according to laboratory requirements.
  • Monitor patients during IV infusions and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or potential adverse reactions.
  • Provide clear education and instructions to patients regarding their treatments, laboratory testing, and next steps in their care.
  • Create a calm, welcoming, and reassuring experience for patients, including those who may feel anxious about needles, blood draws, or IV placement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with our providers regarding patient questions, treatment needs, follow-up, triage, prescription-related support, and other clinical communication as needed.
IV Suite & Clinical Operations
  • Help oversee the day-to-day flow and readiness of the IV suite and lab services.
  • Ensure treatment rooms and clinical spaces are clean, organized, stocked, and prepared for patient care.
  • Manage clinical, laboratory, IV, and procedure inventory, including monitoring stock levels, expiration dates, and ordering needs.
  • Help reduce waste and support responsible management of clinical supplies and expenses.
  • Anticipate operational needs and proactively identify opportunities to improve workflows, organization, patient flow, and the overall nursing experience.
  • Follow established policies and procedures while helping strengthen systems as our clinic continues to grow.
  • Support a smooth handoff and communication process between providers, nurses, patient coordinators, and other members of the care team.
Patient Experience
At MIMC, the nursing experience is an important part of the patient's overall relationship with our clinic. Our ideal RN is warm, approachable, and able to make patients feel comfortable while maintaining a high level of professionalism and clinical excellence. You should enjoy:
  • Building genuine connections with patients.
  • Educating patients and answering questions in a clear, reassuring way.
  • Helping patients feel comfortable during IV therapy and blood draws.
  • Creating a polished, welcoming, and organized clinical environment.
  • Being part of a team that values both clinical excellence and exceptional service.
What You'll Bring
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Strong IV catheter placement and venipuncture skills.
  • Experience with or willingness to become highly proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy for both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Confidence working independently while knowing when to escalate concerns or collaborate with providers.
  • Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • A proactive mindset-you notice what needs to be done and take ownership.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing inventory, supplies, and clinical workflows.
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach to working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Interest in integrative, functional, preventative, or patient-centered medicine.
  • Experience in infusion therapy, emergency medicine, outpatient care, pediatrics, functional medicine, concierge medicine, or a similar setting is a plus, but not required.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time position working approximately 3-4 days per week.
Required availability:
  • Thursday: 7:45 AM-5:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:45 AM-5:00 PM
Additional days will be scheduled based on clinic and patient needs.
We are looking for someone interested in becoming a consistent and reliable part of our nursing and clinical operations team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform repetitive clinical tasks, including venipuncture and IV placement.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work at a computer and use electronic medical record and communication systems as needed.
Why MIMC?
MIMC is a growing, collaborative practice where team members have the opportunity to contribute beyond the basic responsibilities of their role.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Develop expertise in IV therapy, integrative medicine, and advanced diagnostic testing.
  • Work closely with experienced integrative medicine providers.
  • Build meaningful relationships with patients.
  • Contribute ideas and help improve how we operate.
  • Be part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where initiative is valued.
  • Grow alongside a clinic that is actively expanding its services and patient community.

If you are an experienced RN who enjoys combining strong clinical skills with patient connection, organization, and operational ownership, we'd love to meet you.
Apply today and tell us why you're interested in joining Minneapolis Integrative Medicine Center.
