Job Description:
Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic R&D/Product Development Engineer to join our Components group, focusing on advancing the technology and services of extruded polymers, including medical-grade thermoplastics, FEP, and heat shrink tubing. In this fast-paced role, you will drive innovation by designing and validating new products and processes for both emerging and established markets, qualifying tooling, and recommending capital equipment investments. Collaborating closely with Operations and other R&D teams, you will play a key part in optimizing design criteria to enhance product quality and maximize throughput.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and validate innovative processes and products, while proactively addressing ongoing technical challenges.
• Source and qualify new tooling and fixtures for both development and manufacturing operations.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of material properties to optimize design inputs and outputs.
• Contribute to the development of equipment, processes, and measurement strategies for polymer components.
• Conduct hands-on trials to support new product development and scale-up activities.
• Plan, organize, and manage projects related to product and process development.
• Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to Operators and Technicians.
• Act as a subject matter expert to support sustainable operational practices.
• Assist in the design and integration of testing methods related to product validation.
• Gain a thorough understanding of customer applications and design products to meet specific application requirements.
• Directly review, analyze, and validate measurement results to ensure product quality.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to build consensus, summarize data, draw actionable conclusions, and develop recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field; or a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with extrusion processes.
• Experience with extrusion, injection molding, or heat shrink tubing is preferred.
• Proven ability to generate innovative ideas, lead teams, and mentor colleagues.
• Highly motivated self-starter who works effectively in a collaborative team setting.
• Experience in providing indirect support and direction to technicians is desirable.
• Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols is an advantage.
• Six Sigma or Lean certification is a plus.
• Experience with SAP is preferred.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $89,600-112,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
