We are currently seeking a highly experienced and certified Senior Industrial Hygiene Technician/Project Manager to provide advanced technical execution, site leadership, and mentorship for our industrial hygiene and regulated building materials projects in the New York metro area.
Annual Salary Range: $55 - $75 per hour commensurate with experience and advanced certifications
What You'll Do
  • Lead and execute complex, high-risk field assignments, including specialized monitoring for asbestos, lead, mold, and general industrial hygiene exposure assessments (e.g., noise, chemical air sampling).
  • Act as the lead site technician and on-site client/contractor liaison for large-scale or multi-phase projects, ensuring all field work aligns with the approved scope and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and document comprehensive site investigations, risk assessments, and final clearance inspections with minimal oversight.
  • Perform initial quality review of field data, photographs, and chain-of-custody forms collected by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Draft highly technical field reports, data summaries, and regulatory compliance documents for final review by the Project Manager or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Provide on-the-job mentorship and technical training to Junior and Mid-Level Technicians on advanced sampling techniques, complex abatement procedures, and regulatory interpretation.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local EHS regulations on all assigned projects.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot sophisticated industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma required; AS or BS degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Safety, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of dedicated experience in performing asbestos, lead paint, mold, and general industrial hygiene field monitoring and inspections.
  • Advanced combination of IH certifications is mandatory:
  • NYSDOL Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician (AHERA accreditation preferred).
  • NYSDOL Mold Assessor.
  • NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector (or equivalent advanced accreditation).
  • NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator.
  • Expert working knowledge of federal, state, and local IH and EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, NYCDEP, NYSDOL, etc.).
  • Proven ability to write clear, technically accurate field reports and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Must be available to provide site coverage for off-hours and extended shifts as necessary.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT-regulated random drug & alcohol testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Additional advanced accreditations (e.g., Asbestos Project Designer or Supervisor).
  • Proven experience in general health and safety oversight (beyond RBMs) or construction safety management.
  • Working towards a professional certification such as CIH or CSP.
