About Us

St. Thomas Rheumatology Consultants is a growing, patient-centered rheumatology practice dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) with infusion experience to join our infusion team.

Position Summary

The Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing safe, high-quality infusion therapy to rheumatology patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The ideal candidate is organized, clinically skilled, and committed to delivering excellent patient care while maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer IV biologic and infusion medications according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Assess patients before, during, and after infusions for adverse reactions or complications.
  • Monitor vital signs and document all treatments accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Start and maintain peripheral IV access.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, infusion procedures, and possible side effects.
  • Respond appropriately to infusion reactions and medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory and ensure compliance with medication storage and handling guidelines.
  • Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic safety standards.
  • Assist with scheduling, prior authorizations, and other clinical duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Current Tennessee Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, preferably in infusion therapy, rheumatology, oncology, gastroenterology, or a specialty infusion setting.
  • Proficient in IV insertion and venous access.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Biologic infusion administration.
  • Knowledge of infusion reactions.
  • Knowledge of rheumatologic medications and autoimmune diseases.
