Job description

Summary
The Automation and Controls Manager will be a key member of the Technical Services organization and will help provide technical expertise when it comes to designing the automation specifications and applying those specs to the automation strategy in our Norton Shores Michigan plant. This individual will be a part of a cross-functional high-performance work team, including internal resources and external vendors / consultants to deliver operational and project support to our new manufacturing facility. They will also lead implementation support for company process controls applications, process data collection, dashboards and reporting systems. In addition, they will develop detailed project plans and execute projects on time, in scope and budget that support operations goals and improve operational capability.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan and implement information and operations technology systems, including network infrastructure, controls and automation systems.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation of approved standards and practices for IT/OT systems, including network implementation, PLC's and field devices, and IT systems
  • Manage Capital Projects by providing support including gathering requirements, project development, vendor management, proposal development and review, effective planning and execution, on time, in scope and budget
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the automation team.
  • Support Project Managers in the identification and justification of automation and electrical scope for projects including any changes within the project.
  • Produce reliable automation solutions to meet business needs including electrical panel design, device selection, flow charts, project schedules, scope of work, and cost estimates
  • Maintain all Automation related programs and documentation including PLC programs, HMI programs, electrical diagrams, P&IDs, pin charts, sequence of operations, etc.
  • Maintain all automation programming software for the facility such as Rockwell Software, Wonderware, ICIS, Network Management, etc.

Requirements
  • BS in Engineering (preferably in Electrical, Mechatronic, CS)
  • 7 - 10 years of experience working in automation, preferably in Consumer Packaged Goods space.
  • Preferred multi-industry/application experience. (Ex. Process, Material Handling, Packaging, Conveyance)
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC system design/programming specifically focused on Allen Bradley, but willing to learn other brands and languages as needed.
  • Advanced knowledge of HMI systems focused on Rockwell Factory Talk View ME/SE and Ignition
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial process historians.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ethernet networks.
  • Advanced electrical control design capabilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in Industrial Robot Programming is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of automation and electrical devices and equipment.
  • Ability to connect to and interact with OPC interfaces.
  • Ability to produce electrical diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.
  • Highly effective team player who can work collaboratively, support a shared vision, energize others, challenge the status quo and drive change
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively develop team members and share knowledge
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks given time constraints and ensure tasks are executed completely

The salary range for this full-time position is $105,500.00 - $166,100.00, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
