Job description

The IT Intern will assist with day-to-day technical support, Microsoft 365 administration, computer deployment, cybersecurity initiatives, documentation, and technology projects. This part-time position is designed for someone interested in developing practical experience across several areas of corporate IT while learning how technology supports PMA's employees, projects, and business operations. 
Responsibilities
  • Provide first-level technical support for employees experiencing hardware, software, connectivity, printing, and Microsoft 365 issues.
  • Assist with preparing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining laptops, monitors, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including equipment preparation and account-related tasks.
  • Assist the IT team with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
  • Help troubleshoot Windows workstations and common desktop applications.
  • Assist with hardware and software inventory management and IT asset tracking.
  • Help maintain IT documentation, procedures, knowledge-base articles, and technical guides.
  • Participate in cybersecurity initiatives, including security awareness, phishing prevention, endpoint security, and account security.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, testing, and deployment.
  • Support IT projects involving cloud services, business applications, identity and access management, and infrastructure.
  • Help identify opportunities to automate or improve routine IT processes.
  • Participate in testing and evaluating new technologies, including emerging AI and productivity tools.
  • Work with IT team members to research and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Perform other technology-related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required skills:
  • Interest in computers and learning about IT support related to hardware, software and connectivity topics
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365
Preferred skills:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Networking and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
  • Interest in Cybersecurity tools and practices
  • Interest in PC hardware and trouble shooting
  • Familiarity with Generative AI and Microsoft Copilot technologies
 
Additional Requirements
 
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
 
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
