Role Description
Narrative Strategies seeks an IT intern for their Washington, DC offices. The IT Intern will assist with day-to-day IT operations, helping with technology set-up, troubleshooting, and keeping our IT environment organized, as well as coming up with new innovative technology solutions for a growing company. We are seeking a motivated and interested intern, passionate about technology, and excited about gaining experience in a professional setting.
This internship is designed for a student or early-career professional who wants hands-on experience with macOS support, Apple hardware, cloud productivity tools, device lifecycle management, and customer-focused IT service delivery. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, and applications close August 15.
Typical Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities will include technology set-up and management, troubleshooting, and helping with inventory projects.
Conference Room & Office Technology
  • Assist with setup and testing of conference room technology, including displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and video conferencing systems.
  • Help troubleshoot Zoom, Teams, and AV-related issues before or during meetings.
  • Support printers, scanners, wireless networks, and other office technology used by staff.
  • Assist with configuration, deployment, and support of MacBook Pro laptops and other Apple devices.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding tasks, including account setup, license assignment support, group membership updates, and access changes.

Organization: Documentation, Inventory & Projects
  • Create and update user-facing IT guides, quick-reference instructions, and internal support documentation.
  • Help maintain hardware inventory, software license records, spare equipment, and organized storage areas.
  • Participate in IT projects, technology rollouts, security improvements, and process cleanup initiatives.
  • Identify recurring support issues and suggest improvements to make IT support easier for end users.

Troubleshooting and office support: End User Support
  • Provide first-level technical support to staff via email, chat, phone, and in-person requests.
  • Troubleshoot user issues related to macOS, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, printers, Wi-Fi, and peripherals.
  • Assist users with password resets, account access, application questions, and basic security best practices.
  • Document support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the IT ticketing system or knowledge base.

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Strong interest in learning about computers, networking, cloud technologies, and enterprise systems.
  • Passionate about providing end-user support and comfortable working with employees at all levels.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, document work clearly, and ask for help when issues need escalation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using macOS and Apple hardware in a school, work, or personal setting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and internet connectivity.
  • Exposure to help desk ticketing systems, asset tracking or other device management tools.
  • Previous customer service, technical support, or office technology experience.
