Position Details:

Transcard offers an internship program in the FinTech industry. Our program is designed to provide you with meaningful projects utilized by the business. You'll see the direct impact of your contribution and get an inside perspective of your desired field while working alongside some of the best in our industry.

This intern position will operate Monday-Friday during standard business hours. This position is a paid internship, compensation will be based on the qualifications of the applicant.

Our corporate office is located in Chattanooga, TN.

We prefer our interns to be onsite in Chattanooga, TN. We do offer remote capabilities for qualified individuals. Candidate must reside in the US. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The IT Security internship will start with a one-on-one meeting with the Chief Information Security Officer or their designated manager to discuss the professional goal of the student's academic coursework to ensure they are meeting all academic requirements during this internship. Additionally, the internship will be supervised by the Information Security Manager to provide routine feedback and status updates. There will be an exit interview with the Chief Information Security Officer and Information Security Program Manager with the objective being continuous improvement of the internship program.

The Information Security internship will provide exposure to a variety of state-of-the-art security technologies, such as: SIEM, DLP, AV, FW, and DAST/SAST technologies, as well as participation in security architectural design meetings and continuous improvement initiatives and experience actual day-in-the-life activities of an information security professional.

Interview InfoSec and IT engineers and use tools to catalog all security event log sources from on-premise and cloud systems.

Collaborate with InfoSec staff to ensure all log sources are reporting in to the SIEM system.

Analyze the existing SIEM alerts; produce a report with recommendations for improving security alerts to relevant staff.

Collaborate with InfoSec staff to ensure full compliance with various auditing frameworks.

Setup daily reports that include aggregated, "rolled up" FIM and key security events, such as APTs and IOCs.

Take part in the daily security event log review process.

Correlate enterprise changes to change tickets or other communication method.

Identify internal and external nefarious activity on our systems and recommend actions to render it harmless.

Perform application and network vulnerability scans on a recurring and ad hoc basis. Track remediation efforts based on policy-defined SLAs.

Requirements

First and foremost, the successful candidate will be inquisitive to clarify their deliverables, acquire meaningful, real-world experience, and reinforce their classroom learning experiences.

Must have majored in Information Security studies the last two years of higher education.

Familiarity with commercial vulnerability scanners, such as NeXpose, Qualys, Tenable, IVM, etc

A previous InfoSec internship would be beneficial but is not required.

Ability to work independently with little oversight.

Must have good time management, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


Education and/or Certifications:

Completed or currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Information Security or Information Technology.
