Job description

The Department of Physics at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor to pursue a research program focusing on experimental Quantum Information Science, beginning September 1, 2025. The successful applicant will establish an externally funded research program, direct research of doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students, interact effectively with colleagues within the Physics Department and the broader College of Science and Mathematics, and teach and further develop the Quantum Information Certificate program. Candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and have relevant postdoctoral research experience.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an externally funded research program in experimental Quantum Information Science.
  • Direct and mentor students at the doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate levels.
  • Collaborate with faculty across the Physics Department and the College of Science and Mathematics.
  • Teach courses and contribute to the Quantum Information Certificate program.
  • Promote an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace.
