Summer Internship Opportunity – Administrative Intern
Guthrie Broome Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to support business, administrative, and operational initiatives within a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center environment.
This 8-week unpaid internship offers valuable exposure to healthcare administration, operational management, business analytics, artificial intelligence applications, and regulatory compliance in a growing orthopedic and spine specialty surgery center.
Position Title: Administrative Intern
Location: 400 W Commons Way, Suite 100, Johnson City, NY 13790
Internship Duration: 8 Weeks (Summer 2026)
Schedule: Flexible dependent on candidate availability
Compensation: Unpaid internship
Position Overview:
The Business amp; Operations Summer Intern will work closely with leadership and administrative teams to support day-to-day operational initiatives and strategic projects across the organization. This internship is designed for students interested in healthcare administration, business management, operations, finance, data analytics, healthcare technology, artificial intelligence, or healthcare leadership.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in the operational functions of a modern ambulatory surgery center while contributing to meaningful projects that directly support patient care operations and organizational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administrative amp; Business Support
  • Assist with administrative and operational projects
  • Support document organization, reporting, and process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in departmental meetings and workflow coordination
  • Assist leadership with special projects and operational tracking activities
Business Intelligence, Data Analytics amp; AI Support
  • Compile and analyze operational and business performance data
  • Assist with dashboard development and reporting metrics
  • Support trend analysis related to case volumes, supply utilization, staffing, and operational efficiency
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership review
  • Assist with development and testing of AI-assisted workflows and automation opportunities
  • Support use of AI tools for operational reporting, document drafting, data organization, and workflow optimization
  • Participate in exploratory projects involving predictive analytics, operational forecasting, and healthcare data insights
  • Assist leadership in evaluating emerging healthcare technology and AI applications for operational improvement
  • Help identify opportunities to improve administrative efficiency through automation and data-driven decision-making
Operational Support Functions
  • Assist with inventory management and supply chain monitoring
  • Support materials management and supply utilization initiatives
  • Participate in facility rounds and operational audits
  • Assist with life safety and regulatory compliance auditing activities
  • Help maintain organized records related to operational and compliance processes
