Job description

Responsibilities include: interpretation & evaluation of medication orders; dispensing of medications pursuant to orders in the patient's best interests; drug distribution; drug therapy monitoring functions; compounding drugs pursuant to or in anticipation of a prescription order; labeling of drugs and devices in compliance with state and federal requirements; participating in drug selection; providing information related to drug administration; participation in drug related research and drug management; providing patient counseling when necessary to provide pharmaceutical care; offering or performing of acts, services, operations or transactions necessary in the conduct, operation, management and control of a pharmacy only in the presence and under the immediate personal supervision of a pharmacist. Must collaborate with others, organize well, accomplish tasks, solve problems and communicate effectively. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required.

High School Diploma. Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing at, or a recent Graduate of, a College of Pharmacy approved by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy. Alternatively, a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate who has achieved Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification through the National Association of Board of Pharmacy (NABP) will be considered. 
 

Hospital pharmacy experience desirable. The pharmacy internship is commenced with the expected outcome of the intern becoming a licensed pharmacist. A graduate intern has graduated from a College of Pharmacy approved by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and has applied for a license as a pharmacist by examination or reciprocity or has been determined by order of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy to need intern training. 

License/Certification: A current license to practice as a pharmacy intern in the State of Arizona. The pharmacy internship is commenced with the expected outcome of the intern becoming a licensed pharmacist. A graduate intern has graduated from a College of Pharmacy approved by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and has applied for a license as a pharmacist by examination or reciprocity or has been determined by order of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy to need intern training.

Foreign Pharmacy Graduates must have a FPGEC Certificate awarded through the NABP, this must be completed prior to and maintained throughout employment.
