DOE Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office (NRLFO) - Mission Support Division Location Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, PA Full-Time / Part-Time Part-Time - 1,040 hours/period of performance Hours Core hours 9:00 AM-3:00 PM local, Mon-Fri (general office hours may flex 6:00 AM-6:00 PM by mutual agreement) Required Clearance DOE L ACCESS/ Secret Employment Type Contract - contingent on contract award
About the Role
NRLFO Mission Support Division relies on ServiceNow to support business and technical workflows across its sites. As the ServiceNow Developer, you will design, build, and maintain ServiceNow applications and modules that support NRLFO's mission-critical processes, working closely with Mission Support Division staff to translate operational needs into deployed, documented solutions.
Key Duties
  • Design, develop, and implement ServiceNow workflow applications to support business and technical workflows.
  • Configure ServiceNow applications, forms, and workflows based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Ensure modules are accurately documented; maintain a log of developed and deployed modules for audit and tracking purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal IT standards and site-specific requirements; provide operations support for deployed ServiceNow applications and modules.
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update documents tracking the progress of ServiceNow development tasks and projects.
  • Interface and communicate with Mission Support Division staff to ensure tasks and priorities are understood and completed effectively.
  • Bi-weekly brief managers on the progress of ServiceNow development projects and initiatives.
  • Support mission-driven initiatives requiring automation or workflow enhancement; make recommendations to improve efficiency in workflow automation.
  • Coordinate project-oriented ServiceNow development requests in alignment with DOE/NNSA and Naval Reactors IT guidance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution, plus a minimum of 2 years of directly relevant ServiceNow development/administration experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency configuring, scripting, developing, and deploying solutions across ServiceNow modules including ITSM, ITOM, workflow, catalog, and custom applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal IT compliance frameworks - change-control, configuration management, auditability, secure workflow development, and documentation standards for sensitive unclassified information systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of presenting complex ServiceNow system information clearly and concisely per DOE/NNSA reporting expectations.
  • All work must comply with federal standards including DOE Orders, NNSA directives, FISMA/NIST guidelines, and any NR-issued information systems instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with enterprise systems operating under federal compliance standards; familiarity with secure development lifecycle requirements.
  • Experience participating in development of organizational IT procedures, SOPs, and compliance documentation; demonstrated ability to identify workflow improvements aligned with mission objectives.
