An Inflight Instructor typically divides their time between conducting hands-on training sessions onboard aircraft, leading classroom-based instruction, and performing administrative tasks such as curriculum development and trainee evaluation. The exact balance can vary by airline and training schedule, but most instructors spend a mix of days in training centers and some in actual aircraft environments, especially when overseeing practical safety drills. This role may also involve occasional travel to different training bases or working with rotating groups of crew members. As part of the inflight training team, instructors regularly collaborate with cabin crew leadership and safety departments to ensure training standards are up to date and consistently applied.
An Inflight Instructor is responsible for training and developing flight attendants to ensure they meet company and regulatory standards. They conduct classroom and hands-on training in safety procedures, customer service, and emergency protocols. Instructors also evaluate performance, provide feedback, and stay updated on aviation regulations. Their role is essential in maintaining high safety and service standards for airline operations.
To thrive as an Inflight Instructor, you need a strong background in aviation operations, in-depth knowledge of safety protocols, and instructional experience, often supported by commercial pilot or flight attendant certification. Familiarity with aircraft training simulators, e-learning systems, and company-specific safety management systems is essential. Excellent communication, coaching abilities, and adaptability enable success in diverse and dynamic onboard training environments. These skills are crucial to effectively train and certify inflight crew, ensuring the highest standards of safety and service for passengers and airline operations.
