Job description

Job Title: Data Insights Analyst
Bonita Springs, FL, USA, 34134
Employment Status: Full-time
Posting Start Date: 8/25/26
If you are currently an employee of Herc Rentals, please apply using this link: Herc Employee Career Portal
Founded in 1965, Herc Rentals is one of the leading equipment rental suppliers in North America with 2025 total revenues reaching approximately $4.4 billion. Herc Rentals' parent company, known as Herc Holdings Inc., listed on the New York Stock Exchange on July 1, 2016, under the symbol "HRI." Herc Rentals serves customers through approximately 607 locations and has about 10,000 employees in North America as of June 30, 2026.
Job Purpose
The Data Insights Analyst transforms business data into actionable intelligence that supports revenue growth, expense management, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making across Herc Rentals. The role spans sales performance, pricing, market, financial, and operational analytics; it is not limited to pricing analysis.
The analyst monitors what is happening through key performance indicators, investigates why it is happening through diagnostic analysis, and recommends what the business should do next through prescriptive insight. Success requires more than extracting and preparing data: the analyst must interpret findings in business context, communicate a clear narrative, and help stakeholders make better decisions.
What you will do...
Performance Monitoring & KPI Analysis
• Monitor and analyze KPIs that drive sales revenue, expense performance, market share, and operational efficiency across markets, regions, and divisions.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical products that provide timely, accurate visibility into business performance.
• Proactively identify meaningful trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities and bring them to stakeholder attention.
Diagnostic & Prescriptive Analysis
• Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify the drivers of performance gaps, such as declining bid win rates, customer churn, market underperformance, or unfavorable contribution trends.
• Combine internal data with relevant competitive, pricing, customer, market, and economic information to develop a well-supported explanation of business performance.
• Translate findings into practical, data-supported recommendations, including opportunities to improve pricing, sales coverage, customer targeting, resource allocation, and operating performance.
• Estimate potential business impact and define measures that can be used to evaluate results.
Data Storytelling & Stakeholder Communication
• Create executive summaries, presentations, and narrative reports that explain what the data means, why it matters, and what action should follow.
• Present findings to field leaders, senior management, and cross-functional teams, adapting the level of detail and message to the audience.
• Build credibility as a consultative analytical partner by asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions constructively, and offering an evidence-based point of view.
Reporting, Data & Automation
• Develop, maintain, and improve data models, databases, dashboards, and reporting processes that support DIA analytical capabilities.
• Validate data quality and analytical logic and clearly document definitions, assumptions, and methods.
• Automate recurring data preparation and reporting where practical, increasing the time available for analysis, interpretation, and stakeholder engagement.
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner with Sales, Pricing, Operations, Finance, and other teams to clarify business questions, define analytical requirements, and deliver useful insights.
• Support strategic initiatives and complex projects by integrating information across functions and translating analysis into coordinated action.
Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
Experience
• 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, sales analysis, financial analysis, or a related analytical role.
• Demonstrated ability to translate data into business insights and communicate findings to nontechnical stakeholders.
Technical Skills
  • SQL: data querying and manipulation is required
  • Qlik or Power BI dashboard development is required
  • Microsoft Excel advanced analysis is required
  • Python or Alteryx automation/data preparation is preferred
  • Microsoft Access is preferred

Core Competencies
• Analytical thinking and intellectual curiosity
• Data storytelling and clear written communication
• Confident presentation and stakeholder engagement
• Consultative mindset and sound business judgment
• Attention to detail and commitment to data quality
• Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Business, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
• Experience working with large relational databases and enterprise data environments.
• Experience in equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or a comparable industry.
Skills
What Success Looks Like
Success is measured by the quality of decisions enabled-not by the volume of reports produced. The Data Insights Analyst becomes a trusted resource for understanding business performance, brings clarity to complex questions, and consistently connects data to action. Over time, the role should devote substantially more effort to analysis, interpretation, and stakeholder engagement than to manual data gathering and preparation.
Req #: 71039
