Participates in the development, implementation, and coordination of an ongoing program for surveillance, prevention and control of infections among patients, employees, visitors and medical staff. 

What qualifications you will need:

Bachelors degree in a medical science related field (e.g., clinical nursing, microbiology, epidemiology, public health, biology, biostatistics)

OR Two-year degree in a health related field PLUS two years experience in infection prevention or a related field, such as clinical nursing, microbiology, epidemiology or public health.

Required computer skills include proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, power point and graphic display programs, as well as a level of comfort with learning and adapting to new programs. 

Two years recent experience in hospital infection prevention preferred. 

Completion of CDC or APIC sponsored infection prevention training desirable. 

Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles desirable. 

Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). 

Preferred: Current Certification in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology
