About the Project/Clinic:

AMI will be assisting the Naval Hospital in Guam by providing nursing services as requested.

Job Summary:

The NICU Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to high-risk and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Stabilization Unit at the Naval Hospital in Guam. This position requires adherence to infection control and safety standards, participation in quality assurance activities, and maintenance of professional competency in neonatal care in accordance with Navy Medicine policies and contract requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care for premature and critically ill infants.

  • Perform patient triage, assessment, and monitoring of neonatal vital signs and clinical status.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.

  • Operate and manage specialized neonatal equipment including incubators, ventilators, and infusion devices.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including emergency interventions as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure coordination of patient care.

  • Educate and support families regarding infant status, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.

  • Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.

  • Participate in resuscitation and stabilization procedures during neonatal emergencies.

  • Maintain safe, clean, and therapeutic patient care environments.

  • Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and process improvement programs.

  • Ensure compliance with Navy Medicine clinical standards and hospital policies.

  • Provide guidance to LPNs, nursing assistants, and ancillary staff when required.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program (ADN or BSN).

  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state or territory.

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years as an RN in a NICU setting

  • Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

  • S.T.A.B.L.E certification

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), if required by the command

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen

  • Must be able to pass a government background check

  • Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.
