Description Overview

The Category Manager, Grocery, is a high-impact individual contributor responsible for driving Perrigo's OTC growth at Meijer.  This role owns the category captaincy work at Meijer across multiple OTC categories, translating market and POS trends and insights into assortment recommendations that deliver joint value for Perrigo and the customer.

Working closely with Meijer merchants and Perrigo internal Commercial Strategy team, this role ensures that OTC assortment reflects the evolving needs of the shopper across multiple categories.  The position also supports the development of insights and commercial tools that enable execution across key accounts beyond Meijer.

Scope of the Role

Category Strategy & Activation

  • Serve as the lead expert on NRT at Meijer, and the advisor on 7 additional categories
  • Build category review decks and prepare the Meijer OTC buyers for Category Reviews
  • Develop and deliver assortment recommendations for Meijer across OTC categories, with a focus on NRT
  • Build, version, and validate planograms across NRT, Allergy, Children's OTC, Denture, Dental Accessories, Digestive Health, Internal Analgesics, and Infant Formula.
  • Share industry trends, participate in Meijer internal business reviews, and influence category strategies
  • Integrate commercial strategy into annual planning and customer engagement models specific to NRT
  • Develop relationships with both Meijer and internal cross functional partners to strengthen Perrigo partnership
  • Share best practices and learnings with other Grocery and Mass customer teams

Performance & Analytics

  • Provide analytics support and market insights across all channels for strategic self care projects
  • Lead the development, tracking and measurement of Perrigo assortment initiatives
  • Report performance of commercial initiatives to internal stakeholders, highlighting opportunities, barriers of success, and recommending course correction plans

Executional Excellence

  • Contributes to the development of best practices and playbooks that elevate execution across NRT customers and channels
  • Support continuous improvement in commercial capabilities through knowledge sharing and cross-functional alignment
Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Typically these skills are obtained with a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience in Sales or with customers within CPG, retail, or healthcare; Marketing or Commercial Strategy experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of omnichannel dynamics and shopper behavior in both digital and traditional retail environments.
  • Proven ability to translate brand strategies into commercial plans and support execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles with a track record of joint business planning and value creation.
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Deep understanding of the North American retail landscape and executional levers with the healthcare category.
