You'll find an exceptional workplace where mutual respect and support are part of the culture. Supervises and evaluates the work of subordinate staff, effectively recommends personnel actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leave of absence, grievances, work scheduled and assignments. Directs health services to assure achievement of optimal level of care to offenders to meet care standards.

Establishes and maintains guidelines for staffing within the health care agency to assure adequate nursing coverage all offender areas. Maintains a nursing schedule to cover the institution 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Assures annual evaluations are completed as assigned.

Duty officer coverage. Recruitment and retention of nursing staff. Primarily responsible for development, implementation and revision of institutional health services procedures.

Assures monthly nursing meetings and minutes are complete and distributed Participates in inter-departmental meetings to advocate for nursing department needs and to coordinate health services with other disciplines. Ensures employee's health program is accurate. Administer special programs as infection control, staff development, nursing quality improvement and utilization review.

Attend institutional and Executive and/or Leadership meetings to represent Health Services. Active member of the quarterly P&T committee and Nurse Managers monthly QA on nursing charts. Covers nursing shifts during the absence of staff.

Attends Nurse Manager meeting in-person and virtual. E-Verify and Right to Work The State of Iowa participates in E-Verify, a federal program that helps employers confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees. Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and experience equal to three years of full-time supervisory/management nursing experience; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Nursing and experience equal to one year of full-time supervisory/management nursing experience; OR an equivalent combination of the required education and experience, substituting one year of experience for thirty semester hours or equivalent of education; no substitution for three years of full-time supervisory/management nursing experience
