Job description

SUMMARY

The Dairy Manager supervises department operations including but not limited to maximizing gross margins, promoting sales, controlling inventory and expenses. The Dairy Manager responsibilities cover the overall operation and success of the Dairy department while working in a safe manner. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers superior guest service and ensures absolute customer satisfaction
  • Adds new items to department as requested
  • Organizes and effectively supervises daily/weekly work plan based on budgeted sales and profit
  • Aggressively pursues sales by planning and effectively executes merchandising and daily operational plans
  • Quality assurance checks of department
  • Proper handling and rotation of product
  • Responsible for budgeted sales, gross profit, labor and CTO.
  • Trains and develops team
  • Promotes and supports established programs
  • Day to day operational procedures to ensure stock level, inventory, and cleanliness
  • Communicates with and receives product from approved vendors
  • Promotes sales
  • Work within company programs, policies and procedures
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model
  • Other duties as assigned

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises 1-2 Associates
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Appraising performance; rewarding and coaching Associates.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical     procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, customers, and associates 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with Supermarket math concepts such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales Per Associate Hour.
