Job description

Position Title: Quality Engineer Intern

This position is 100% onsite at our Bohemia, NY location.

The compensation for this role is $20 - $25 hourly a is a 6 month temporary position.

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineering Intern to join our Quality team. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting an AS9100-certified Quality Management System within a high-reliability manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work alongside Quality Engineers, Process Engineers, and Operations personnel to improve product quality, investigate manufacturing issues, and support customer and regulatory requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineering or technical students interested in aerospace, manufacturing, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Support Quality Engineers with day-to-day quality assurance and manufacturing activities.
  • Assist in investigating product and process nonconformances using Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies.
  • Participate in the preparation, tracking, and closure of Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and verify implementation of corrective actions.
  • Review manufacturing records, inspection results, and test data for completeness and compliance.
  • Prepare and organize End Item Data Packs for customer deliveries, ensuring all required quality documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Assist with calibration program activities, including reviewing calibration status, updating records, and helping maintain measurement equipment compliance.
  • Analyze manufacturing and inspection data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102.
  • Assist with internal audits and verification of compliance to AS9100 procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities by collecting data and supporting disposition documentation.
  • Review supplier documentation including Certificates of Conformance, inspection reports, and quality records.
  • Help maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Inspection teams on quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional quality engineering projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
