The Role
Responsible for virtually all technical work with respect to projects and service provided to customers, as an IS Developer you will apply your creativity and technical expertise to create, design, and implement innovative information systems solutions. Be on the front lines interfacing with customers while providing tier-1 service and support and value-added expertise in the areas of project management and business development. This position reports to Team Leader, Digital Services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop code for complex, enterprise-wide data management systems.
  • Apply industry best practices and tools to deliver solutions across multiple industries (food, beverage, CPG, automotive, pharmaceutical, etc.).
  • Collaborate with a team of high-performing professionals who execute on shared goals.
  • Use approved AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development while reviewing, testing, and owning all generated code.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • Experience in the manufacturing software arena, particularly using software that can be described as Information/MES/IIoT
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and with industrial controls
  • Proven expertise in areas such as requirements specification, architecting solutions, systems analysis, and design
  • Demonstrable understanding of industrial automation PLC platforms, network design and implementation, OT/IT configurations, production and engineering processes
  • Advanced experience using industrial software packages provided by any or all of the following vendors: Rockwell, Siemens, Aveva/Wonderware and GE
  • Experience with network architecture design, system virtualization, and associated design tools
  • Development experience using Python, Java, JavaScript, and/or Microsoft .NET
  • Working knowledge of database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, InfluxDB) combined with familiarity in application development methodologies, configuration management, middleware, networking and communication, and hardware configuration
  • Practical proficiency using GitHub Copilot and/or Claude in day-to-day development, with the judgment to validate, refactor, and reject AI-generated output
  • Foundational understanding of large-language-model and generative-AI concepts (prompting, context windows, hallucination risk, data privacy) enough to integrate basic AI capabilities into delivered solutions

Desirable
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Experience using software and systems like MQTT, Azure DevOps, AWS, Node-Red, and Docker an asset
  • Certified with Inductive Automation's Ignition Platform software; experience with Sepasoft and/or Cirrus Link Solutions integrated modules an asset
  • Hands-on experience shipping generative-AI features in production (RAG, prompt design, LLM API integration) an asset
