Pay Range: State Teacher Salary + [10.5% - 18% local supplement]
Position Purpose: The Career Development Coordinator works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, local business leaders, teachers, and students to support transition to employment and/or postsecondary education.
  • Promote and assist students with employability skills
  • Work with middle and high students, school faculty, and staff on Career Development Plans as required by the state
  • Assist teachers in securing instructional resources to include curriculum, equipment, and supplies
  • Facilitate work-based learning opportunities for students, i.e. internships, apprenticeships, job-shadowing
  • Serve as a liaison between school, business, industry, military, postsecondary, and community agencies
  • Compile a list of CTE concentrators (beginning in 9th grade) and work with these students throughout their high school career
  • Collaborate with middle and high school registration teams to deliver career guidance and comprehensive information on CTE courses to students during registration
  • Assist with the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA)
  • Work with Career-Technical Student Organizations
  • Coordinate and publicize Career-Technical Education through various media
  • Work with County Office CTE staff to provide professional development opportunities to CTE teachers
  • Help coordinate career fairs for students in 8th grade and career awareness events for 5th grade students
  • Work with faculty and staff to identify and serve students in Special Populations
  • Treat all stakeholders in a fair and equitable manner
  • Keep up to date on ever evolving trends and technology
  • Attend professional development workshops, seminars, and/or conferences at the local, state, and national level that are relative to job responsibilities and performance
  • Develop a Plan of Work at the beginning of each school year. The Career Development Coordinator should meet with the CTE Director periodically to discuss and modify this Plan of Work
  • Duties assigned by the principal and/or County Office should be discussed and documented on a regular basis

  • Required License: Current continuing professional license in a CTE program area OR current continuing professional license as School Counselor at the G level
  • Requirements to convert to continuing:
    • Option 1 (2 required courses)
      • National Career Development Association (NCDA) Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Course
    • Option 2 (Six semester hours and Induction)
      • 3 semester hours in Counseling theory
