Job description
ECO Canada is the steward for the Canadian environmental workforce across all industries. From job creation and wage funding to training and labour market research, we champion the end-to-end career of an environmental professional. We work with the federal, provincial, and municipal governments in all Canadian regions to support economic growth and environmental stewardship as best practices.
When you work at ECO Canada, you are supporting the growth of an abundant environmental workforce. Along with competitive benefits and compensation, we provide the opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team that values collaboration, high performance, and, of course, celebrating our successes! We believe that rewarding, meaningful work should be part of every step of the career journey.
Job Description
ECO Canada is looking for performance-driven individuals to join the Professional Services team.
Reporting to the Director, Professional Services, the successful candidate will support the execution of ECO Canada's BEAHR (Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources) program, while supporting the development and management of new projects and programs.
This role requires a business-minded individual who can work autonomously and is confident in developing and pursuing new ideas. The program provides a multi-faceted work experience with a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and stakeholders to support, so a keen sense of priority management and organizational skills to ensure multiple activities can be balanced and executed simultaneously will be key. In addition, this candidate will also be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders and coordinating joint activities internally and externally with Indigenous, government, and industry groups.
While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, we take a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to develop and take ownership of his/her ideas and to see them through from concept development to completion, collaborating with key stakeholders as required. This role presents a unique opportunity to work in various areas, including program coordination, stakeholder engagement, project management, proposal writing, and more.
Responsibilities
Drive business development activities to identify, pursue, and secure new BEAHR training opportunities with Indigenous communities, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
Coordinate the planning and delivery of BEAHR programs and related environmental projects, ensuring activities, timelines, and deliverables are effectively managed.
Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, government, industry, academic institutions, trainers, and other stakeholders.
Lead the recruitment, screening, onboarding, and ongoing relationship management of qualified BEAHR Trainers to maintain a strong delivery pipeline.
Support trainer evaluations and quality assurance processes to promote consistent, high-quality training delivery and continuous improvement.
Attend conferences, events, webinars, workshops, and site visits to support program delivery, relationship-building, professional development, and the advancement of BEAHR initiatives.
Travel occasionally across Canada to Indigenous communities and off-site training locations for program delivery, relationship management, community engagement, and site visits.
Research and support the preparation of program reports, proposals, technical documentation, and other materials.
Track program budgets and expenses and provide regular updates on activities, deliverables, and progress.
Contribute to the development of new program ideas, projects, and business opportunities.
Support communications, events, templates, program documentation, and other administrative activities as required.
Qualifications and Education
Graduate of a post-secondary program. A background in an Environmental Science/Studies program, business administration, Indigenous relations, or a similar field will be an asset.
1-2 years of experience in a coordinator role.
Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately, independently, and effectively.
Demonstrated ability (or clear aptitude) to identify and pursue new business or training opportunities.
Experience working with Indigenous Peoples, including programming, community engagement, or relationship-building, is strongly preferred.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence and willingness and ability to travel occasionally across Canada to Indigenous communities and off-site training locations, including for site visits and community-based program delivery, are required.
Why Join ECO Canada?
Be part of a passionate, mission-driven team supporting Canada's environmental workforce.
Gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of the environmental sector.
Opportunities for professional development and growth within a supportive environment.
Collaborative workplace culture where your ideas are valued and encouraged.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at ECO Canada's Calgary head office, with a 90-day probationary period upon start date. ECO Canada offers a hybrid work arrangement (minimum of 3 days per week at the Calgary office, with the option to work remotely for the remaining 2 days).
If you feel you are the perfect fit for this position and are looking to join a company culture that is fun, flexible, and defined by our collective drive for success, please apply now through our website. Applicants are requested to submit both a resume and a cover letter.
We thank all applicants; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. No phone calls, please.
ECO Canada is dedicated to recruiting and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds. By recognizing and valuing a diverse workforce, we are committed to hiring practices that are fair and equitable. ECO Canada will always seek to hire the most qualified candidate for a position based on character, competency, compatibility, and commitment.
