Job description

Job Summary

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Electrical Project Coordinator to join our growing construction team. In this role, you will support the Project Manager in overseeing the daily administrative, financial, and logistical aspects of commercial and industrial electrical installations. You will interact directly with general contractors, field foremen, engineers, and vendors to ensure projects run smoothly from conception to completion. This is an accelerated career path position designed to train and develop you into a fully independent Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Project Documentation: Create, track, and manage critical project documentation including Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change order logs, and meeting minutes.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management: Solicit vendor quotes for major electrical components (such as switchgear and lighting fixtures), issue purchase orders, and coordinate just-in-time material deliveries to the job site.
  • Financial Tracking: Assist the Project Manager with project financials, updating budget forecasts, tracking change order costs, and preparing monthly progress billings (Schedule of Values).
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Help develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and manpower coordination using scheduling software.
  • Field Liaison: Perform regular job site visits to verify progress, monitor quality control, ensure National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance, and support site safety enforcement.
  • Project Estimating: Support the estimating department by performing minor material take-offs and pricing field-directed change orders.
  • Project Closeout: Compile Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, organize as-built drawings, and coordinate final inspections to ensure successful project handoff.

 Required Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Experience:  1–3 years of experience in the electrical trade preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Understanding of electrical blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
    • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical systems.
    • Strong computer skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). 
    • Experience with construction software such as Bluebeam is a plus. Willing to put in the extra effort to learn electrical estimating, including Accubid.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines calmly under pressure.
