Job description

We are a local Steel pipe distributor and fabrication company, servicing the west coast since 1982. We are seeking a Fabrication Manager to become an integral part of our team here at Independent Pipe!
Responsibilities:

  • Lead the fabrication crew and oversee the day-to-day welding operations.
  • Coordinate with Operations manager to ensure scheduled delivery dates are met.
  • Maintain continuous production flow from cutting and fit-up through welding and final shipping.
  • Assist with estimating and job costing
  • Quality control and conformance to AWS D1.1
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and orderly work environment.
  • Coordinate with sales and yard teams to ensure on time deliveries
  • Set clear expectations and aid in the development of welders and helper's skill levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining high performance standards though consistent evaluations, recommending promotions and raises, and addressing behavioral or performance issues directly.

​Qualifications:

  • Able to pass a D-1.1. Qualification in FCAW
  • Solid working knowledge of FCAW, SMAW, AND SAW
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma
  • A minimum of 3 years leading a fabrication crew as a foreman or shop manager.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and informal plans related to projects
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • An effective communicator who bridges the gap between sales and operations
  • Computer skills to include spreadsheets, job tracking software and barcode tools
